Sea BreamThey fight all the way to the surface and pack a punch far bigger than their size.Great fish to eat and a great fish to catch. The Sea Bream (Pagellus centrodontus) is a marine fish of the Sparidea family found in the Mediterranean and around the British Isles. The Sea Bream has a deep, thick body and a high dorsal fin resembling the fresh-water perch in some respects. The upper parts are red in colour and the sides and under side silver with a conspicuous black spot above the gill-covers. The Sea Bream feeds mainly on sand-stars, brittle-stars and small crabs. The young Sea Bream is known as a chad. Mackerel
They are characterized by deeply forked tails that narrow greatly where they join the body; small finlets behind both the dorsal and the anal fins; and sleek, streamlined bodies with smooth, almost scaleless skins having an iridescent sheen. All members of the mackerel family are superb, swift
swimmers. The firm, oily texture of their powerful muscles and their generally large size make them of great commercial importance as food fish. They travel in schools, feeding on other fish (chiefly herring ) and on squid, and migrate between deep and shallow waters. The smaller species rely on the constant rush of water through their gills for sufficient oxygen and will suffocate if motionless.Amberjack
Common name for a group of saltwater fish found in warm seas worldwide.Amberjacks belong to the family Carangidae, in the perch order Perciformes. The amberjack is a streamlined, fast-swimming fish with a dark back and silvery or yellowish sides. Amberjacks feed mostly on squid, crustaceans, and other fish. The greater amberjack is the largest amberjack species. Typically reaching 18 kg (40 lb), it can grow to over 68 kg (150 lb), with a length of 1.8 m (6 ft). Like most amberjack species, the greater amberjack is a commercially important game and food fish.Dolphin Fish
Although its common name is dolphin-fish, the mahi-mahi is a fish not a dolphin, and is not at all related to the Delphinidae family of mammals whose common name is simply
dolphin. An alternate name for mahi-mahi is simply dolphin, or common dolphin. The English language adopted the Hawaiian word, mahi-mahi without formalizing its spelling.Dolphin fish are fast growing, prolific and have a short life span - an average of 5 years. Average fork lengths for males and females ranges from 34 to 55 inches. Males grow faster and usually live longer than females. They eat small fish, crabs, and shrimp.Dolphin fish may also pursue fast -swimming fish, like mackerel.
Tuna
Tuna are ocean-dwelling carnivorous fish. Tuna are fast swimmers—they have been clocked at 70 kilometres per hour (43 mph)—and include several warm-blooded species. Unlike most fish, which have white flesh, tuna flesh is pink to dark red, which could explain their odd nick-name, "rose of the sea." The red coloring comes from tuna muscle tissue's greater quantities of myoglobin, an oxygen-binding molecule. Some of the larger species, such as the bluefin tuna, can raise their blood temperature above water temperature through muscular activity. This ability enables them to live in cooler waters and to survive in a wide range of ocean environments.
The above guide refers to the type of fish you are able to catch in the waters where we fish.So come along and have a great time-everyone welcome.
